Alison Wright (born in England) is an English actor from England. She received an Emmy Award in the year 2017 in her role of Martha Hanson, the star of FX's period spy series The Americans. The other roles she has played include the Ryan Murphy series Feud, Bette & Joan in Hollywood. Wright, who was adoptive by her parents was born in Sunderland in 1976. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She studied in New York City at The Barrow Group and at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. The waitressing gig was cut short with auditions for roles in various parts. She was scuba diving as a major passion of hers, after suffering a heart event at sea which left her in an induced state of coma. A few days later, she died peacefully, with her loved ones by the bedside. Wright was born on 12 July 1976 in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear in the area where she was raised by her adopted parents. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She attended school with her in New York City at The Barrow Group as well as The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
